Dental implants restore the comfort and aesthetics of natural teeth, thereby improving your quality of life. They also have a positive impact on people’s confidence and mental health.

Dental implantation is the most modern and in the same time highly secure way of the replacement of missing teeth. Hundreds of implants are placed each year in Dental Palace and implantation has become a routine intervention. As we use local anaesthesia, the intervention is also completely painless.

Come to our clinic for a consultation without any obligations to see if implantation is the best solution for you and to get your questions answered by our experts.

What is a dental implant?

Implants are small and extremely solid artificial tooth roots made of biocompatible titanium and ceramic, placed into the jaw in order to replace missing tooth root. Implants are placed under local anaesthesia in the framework of an outpatient surgery.

Once the osseointegration is terminated, the implant becomes part of the human body.

After the implant integrates to the bone, it acts as a new root for the crown that will replace the missing tooth.

Face form will not be deformed

The implant transmits the power produced by the masticatory muscle to the jaw. In case of missing teeth or traditional prosthesis, this power transmission is missing and the bone density starts to reduce and the face may get deformed over time.

Teeth do not need to be polished

In case of a traditional bridge, intact adjacent teeth of the missing tooth have to be polished as they become abutment teeth for the bridge. However, if the missing tooth is replaced by an implant, adjacent teeth and natural tooth substance remain intact.

Implantation has three phases:

1. Surgical phase

The intervention takes place in sterile environment, under local anaesthesia. The duration of the intervention depends on the number of necessary implants but usually the placing of one implant do not requires more than 45 minutes.

A small incision is made in the gum where the implant will be placed. A hole is drilled in the bone with the help of special drills, than the implant is placed into the hole in the bone and the incision is stitched closed. Stitches will be removed one week later, when the wound has already healed.

2. Healing period

The healing requires 1-6 months depending on the bone quality and the surface treatment of the implant. By the end of the healing period the implant integrates to the bone tissue and becomes stable.

3. Prosthetic work

At the end of the healing period, a new incision is made on the gum in order to expose the implant. Both fixed and removable prosthesis can be prepared onto the implant. The prosthesis is prepared in a dental technology laboratory in a few days or in our dental clinic within a few hours thanks to our CAD-CAM equipment (digital dentistry).

Treatment of all dental problems, good condition of the gum and perfect oral hygiene are necessary before the implantation. Implantation also requires cooperative attitude from the Patient as teeth must be cleaned perfectly. Adequate bone quantity is also necessary.

The placement of the implants does not burden human body more than other dental interventions. In case of considerable quantity of missing teeth, implantation allows the preparation of bridges instead of removable prosthesis.

Implant brands used in our dental clinic

The Suisse fabricant STRAUMANN is well known all over the world as it is the second largest implant brand in dentistry. STRAUMANN implants are made of pure, non-allergenic medical titanium. The titanium used for the fabrication of ICX® implants is of 99% purity.

Besides the life-time warranty offered by the manufacturer, Dental Palace insures a re-implantation warranty of 10 years for all implants placed in the clinic.
